Official! Season 7 Postponed Indefintely

So, yesterday I told you about the possibility, and today, it’s official, Fox have postponed 24’s Seventh Season until it can be aired non-stop. Press release from Fox below.

“24” PREMIERE POSTPONED TO ENSURE “DAY 7” PROVIDES NON-STOP ACTION

In light of the recently announced strike by The Writers Guild of America, FOX has revised its lineup for January and the remainder of the 2007-2008 season. (The new schedule is subject to change, pending resolution of the strike.)

The highly anticipated drama TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES will have a two-night premiere on Sunday, Jan. 13 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) and Monday, Jan. 14 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), the show’s regular time period. PRISON BREAK, which has its last November airing on Monday, Nov. 12 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), returns to Mondays (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) beginning Jan. 14.

The seventh season premiere of 24 is being postponed to ensure that “Day 7” can air uninterrupted, in its entirety.

It would be really easy to start blaming the writers now, and for us the fans to act as victims of some unspeakable horror, but I for one am with the writers on this one. Just look how crucial there contribution is, they deserve a fair share of the pie.

  1. When I hear terms like “fair share” I always wonder what that means. In a market economy, the amount one earns is based on what the market can bear – no more and no less. For example, I as a software professional could “demand” $300,000 per year for my skills – after all that is a “fair share” of the profit my company makes – but no one would pay me that much. Why not? Because the skills I have simply do not garner a salary that high in the marketplace.

Writers are no different, except that they have this powerful union that makes arbitrary claims about “fairness.” Reality be damned, they want it NOW. Never mind that everyone comes out a loser in the deal, including the writers.

The UAW has done the same thing in the American car market for decades. The result: business moves elsewhere or dries up entirely. The screen writers ought to take a lesson and realize that they cannot expect to fake reality and expect that their livelihoods will still be there indefinitely. It is my sincere hope that the pampered writers LOSE – until and unless they decide to join the real world.

  2. I just con say one word now: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
I saw the preview and it was absolutely shocking, the “bad guy” is the biggest surprise, maybe in all the 24 history, lets pray for a fast solution

  3. My friends decided to have some fun, despite the fact that the show is going to be MIA for a while:

The WGA Writers Strike has Hollywood shut down. CTU was just one of the many casualties. See how Jack Bauer and Tony Almeida pass the time when there are no bad guys to shoot up.
