I think there will indeed be a time gap, but it’s possible he’s right about the prequel counting as the first two of the ‘24′.

I think he’s wrong, as you point out, they can’t lead straight into Day 7 - unless they’ve invented a way to get Jack Bauer 8000 miles from South Africa to Washington in a few minutes. Equally, nothing we’ve heard has suggested that the prequel replaces two episodes in the series proper…
