David Fury Tweets Regarding ‘Live Another Day’

Not much has been heard from official channels about ‘Live Another Day’, but one of the writers David Fury has been tweeting little bits of information of the past few months. Below is a summary. Note that these are from a period of several months and things do change, so take everything with a pinch of salt.

Writing Staff

Q: any more writers join you and @HowardMGordon yet ? #24LiveAnotherDay” A: Evan Katz, Manny Coto, so far…

Q: how many eps do you get to write? A: More than 1, less than 12.

Format

David had this to say about the decision to make a new 12 episode day ’12 is becoming the norm in TV, thanks to cable. Story still takes place in 24 hr period. Nothing at all to do w/ movie.’

There was some debate on what the starting time of the day will be (i.e. 7am – 7am etc.) my suggestion to him was ‘go old school! Midnight to midnight!’ His reply was : We just may…

Q: Will this season see a return to the smaller-scale, more personal plots / threats, as in season 1? A: That’s our desire.

Location

Q: Do you guys have any idea WHERE Live Another Day takes place? A: Yes.

Q: where is 24 LAD taking place next season and will CTU be back? A: Too soon to announce where; CTU’s return unlikely.

Q: All the season will take place outside of US or only a few episodes? A: Most, if not all.

Q: will 24 take place in Europe ? A: Probably.

Q: Very important question, will all the old crew be returning?? They are vital to 24… Rodney Charters especially A: Since we’re shooting out of the country, it unfortunately may not be possible.

Q: CTU’s return unlikely? So #24LiveAnotherDay not settled in LA or NY? A: London is more likely, mate.

Returning Characters

Q: is there any real chance to see Mandy (Mia Kirshner) again? #24LAD A: Always.

Q: any news on the return of Tony Almeida?? A: No.

Q: are u any closer to deciding if Tony Almeida will return for 24: Live Another Day?? A: Still looking for way..

Q: is there a chance that Michelle Dessler is still alive and working for terrorists … A: In your dreams.

‘Live Another Day’ – Hopes, Thoughts & Possibilities

Hello 24 fans, long time no talk. Well i’ve posted the odd drip of movie non-news. But now, their is stuff to discuss! So I thought i’d bring my thoughts on the recently announced ’24: Live Another Day’.

So the first question is, are we happy that we’re getting more TV rather than the much talked about movie? Obviously they couldn’t make the the movie work financially or creatively, so probably best that it didn’t move forward than we get some compromised version it. But the draw of the movie was the hope it might kick start the creativity and see 24 regain the freshness and unique viewpoint which made it such a game changing show in the first place. For me the show had run it course, if it was ever going to see new life it needed a new angle, a movie seemed the most obvious way, but perhaps the new format will achieve the same end result. Especially when coupled with the break from the show the writers have had, and the ongoing process of pitching.

If the shows return is to be a creative triumph they’ll need to sweep away all the conventions that accumulated over the years and made the show feel so formulaic in it’s last two years especially. Which means how they handle returning characters will be key as that was the mother of all 24 tropes, so often used as a cheap cliffhanger. They’d be much better establishing a strong ensemble cast early (new and returning characters) and then go from there. Continue reading ‘Live Another Day’ – Hopes, Thoughts & Possibilities

’24: Live Another Day’ To Air 2014

Straight from the official 24 Facebook Page:

FOX has ordered 24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY, a thrilling new tent-pole event series set to restart the clock on the groundbreaking and Emmy Award-winning drama franchise starring Kiefer Sutherland. Produced by 20th Century Fox Television, Imagine Television and Howard Gordon’s Teakwood Lane Productions, 24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY will make its historic debut in the summer of 2014 on FOX.

So it’s official, we’ll endeavour to keep you up to date.

Fox Considering New ’24’ Miniseries

Well, this is an interesting development, after the Movie appeared dead in the water, apparently ’24’ might have a future back on TV…

“The clock may start ticking again on Fox. I’ve learned that the network is looking to bring back its signature real-time drama 24 as a limited series. Kiefer Sutherland is in talks to reprise his Emmy-winning role as Agent Jack Bauer. No deals are in place, but Fox is eying 24 as part of its recent push in limited event series.” ~ Deadline.com

We’ll be keeping a keen eye on this one, in the mean time sound off in the comments, do you think it’s a good idea or should it be a Movie or nothing?

Film to Start Filming in April 2012?

After a long period i’m breaking radio silence to bring you the news you’ve been waiting for….

The clock has started on 24, the feature version of the Imagine Entertainment/Fox series…..The goal is to get the film into production to match Sutherland’s availability, which begins in April … and it is certainly good news for fans of the show who were beginning to fear the project wouldn’t happen. – Deadline.com

Indeed I’d started to think it was unlikely, but it appears Fox is happy with progress being made on the polish of the script so it may finally happy. More info can be found in the Reuters video at the bottom of this article, which features Kiefer talking about the film at a recent DVD launch in Tokyo.

More info as we get it.

Movie set for 2012 release? – Kiefer & Grazer

Brian Grazer whose production company Imagine Entertainment produced the show has tweeted…

“Got off the phone Keifer yesterday and we are very excited about producing the ‘24′ movie for next year.”

Kiefer has also within the last month told TV show “The View” that the film would be released in 2012.

A note of caution, while all this sounds very positive, it should be noted that there is no firm word on a script, since Fox vetoed Billy Ray’s script and until a script and plot have been signed off then any greenlight from Fox and release date is probably provisional.

As ever more when we get it.

Kiefer On Twitter

A couple of days ago Kiefer joined Twitter as @RealKiefer, we can be sure it’s him thanks to Twitters “verified” service. So far he’s mostly be posting about the play he’s doing, but last night be responded to questions about the 24 Movie by saying he “hopes” production will begin in January next year, and that Tony Scott maybe directing.

That particular tweet is here: http://twitter.com/RealKiefer/status/43440084694990848
