“What’s the deal with the 24 movie?
We were going to make it in the break this year, but it’s just too much to ask the writers to do. We are going to do it. It’s just a question of when.”
That’s Kiefer answering a question about the movie only last thursday at a party to promote the new series. So confirmation that the movie, which was due to start shooting this may in the three month hiatus period between series six and seven will defintely not go forward during that time. It would appear now that earliest the film could shoot is the hiatus period between series seven and eight (should the show get that far), for a release late 2008.
Jennifer Aniston’s bid to star in hit series 24 has been unsuccessful.
The actress approached bosses about the possibility of guest starring in the show, about a counter-terrorism government agency, but was snubbed because of her role as ditzy Rachel Green in ‘Friends’.
Aniston is not the only big name star to be refused a part in the show.
Comic actor was also overlooked because he is too famous.
Work on a film version of 24 is currently underway, with a scheduled release date for the summer of 2008.
It is believed Kiefer Sutherland will reprise his role as special agent Jack Bauer in the big screen version.

This is an article/feature on 24 that I found a little while ago and meant to link to, but forgot, but then Patrick Klepek, the article’s writers took the effort to email me a link to it, so now i’m getting off my lazy arse and linking to it. … ‘It’s certainly something that I’ve expressed an incredible amount of interest in doing,’ he [Kiefer] said. ‘It is something that Joel, Howard and Bob and I have all talked about. One of the real difficulties, … is that any time they got really close to having a great idea for a film, we needed it for episode 18, so there it went.’
‘I love playing the character and it’s something I care an awful lot about,’ Sutherland continued. ‘And I think certainly it is a genre of film that I have always loved as an audience person. I think there is an audience out there for that.’
… ‘I think there’s always a way to actually deal with an idea of 24 as a film that would be completely separate from 24 the television show. And by that I mean the characters could be different. They could be completely unrelated, and I think that that would still be effective. Obviously, it’s something that I would be very eager to do, and it requires a lot of other people to feel the same way.'”
Most of you will know by now that on the U.S. Series Four DVD is a new ten minute prequel specially produced to bridge the gap between day’s four and five.
