Events Occur in Real Time...

On The Simpsons and Doctor Who.

This weekend sees to 24 related TV event time things. The simpsons airs it's 400th episode on Sunday in the U.S. which is entitled "24 minutes" and guest stars Kiefer & Mary Lynn playing simpsonified versions of Jack and Chloe

And Doctor Who has a real time episode this saturday in the U.K., called "42" (the doctor and martha have 42 minutes to stop a spaceship from crashing), and will apparently have a couple of 24 references as well.

24 continues it's slow but steady mass takeover of popular culture.

Re: Events Occur in Real Time...

MFL just gave me details on the simpson's ep. I quote:

"Principal Skinner opens a CTU – Counter Truancy Unit – at Springfield Elementary School with Lisa heading up the operation. Homer is sent on to dispose a container of yogurt so far past its freshness date that it could be toxic, but the reeking yogurt falls into the hands of Dolph, Jimbo and Kearney. With the help of Jack Bauer and Chloe O'Brian, Bart and Lisa must stop the bullies from releasing the ultimate stink bomb at the school’s bake sale."

sounds like fun to me wink big_smile

"Yeah, I didn't wanna believe Tony Almeida was a terrorist either, but at some point we just have to deal with the facts. Not with what we want to believe is true."

You need to start living in the real world! Because every second you help the government you're spittin' on Teri's grave!

Sounds good. I haven't seen it yet, but I like forward to it.

As for the Doctor Who episode, it didn't relaly live up to expectations- it all felt slightly too contrived. Which is a shame as generally the new series has been superb.

Re: Events Occur in Real Time...

I just saw the episode, probably because of fairly low expectations I actually quite enjoyed it. One of the best jokes in the episode was.

Lisa to Skinner: As we're both probably aware, but you (the audience) may need reminding.

Yeah "Jack Bauer" is only in one scene, but he does the usual voice overy things. "previously.." & "the following..", which they get a few jokes out of instead of just playing them straight.

Defintely worth a look.

Re: Events Occur in Real Time...

In my opinion, the Simpsons eps. was a rip-off. We already saw one of the scenes that Kiefer was in from the previews. Everything else was okay.... Could've been better if you ask me. Chloe, Mary Lynn, was only in it for a little bit too =[

I think that really if you don't have to high expectations, then you'll be able to see any good jokes or moments as a bonus.

The best moment for me was, Jack: I pulled every field agent in to track you down Bart, and it was tough, but I think I made the right decision. [nuke explodes behind him] [beat] don't worry, that was just shelbyville.

Re: Events Occur in Real Time...

I love the ending!! That was awesome, but honestly, I think my biggest complain was that there wasn't enough Kiefer =[ Everything else was pretty good because I enjoy a good 24 spoof.
