Fox files suit over ’24’ clone

June 20th, 2005

“… Fox has filed suit in Delhi High Court against an Indian television company in an attempt to prevent it from showing what they claim is a clone of their popular 24. Daily Variety reports that each episode of Zee Telefilms’ Time Bomb portrays an hour of the real time in the story, …

… the Indian film industry is no stranger to accusations of stealing plots and premises from Hollywood, though the American productions are merely ‘inspiration,’ according to Bollywood.

… Zee Telefilms insists that their Time Bomb and Fox’s 24 are entirely different, since the former is about a plot to assassinate an Indian prime minister whereas the latter sees Jack … trying to prevent a terrorist attack on the US president.”

24: The Movie

June 16th, 2005

“The last I heard, the first hour will not be in real-time, but then something big will happen and real time will kick in. It still has to be worked out — it’s at a stage where they need to write it.”

That quote is from Director and Producer Jon Cassar, that appeared in the Calgary Sun Newspaper today. The article goes on to talk about the possibilities for the film and the overall success of the show. This is so far the only vaguely official word about a movie that we’ve had so it’s far from definite, but it’s highly unlikely that Jon has his wires crossed or is over emphasising the possibility, but it looks like it’s still far off if it does happen.
