Looking Back & Looking Forward

Hi everybody, just a real quick update. I’m so glad to see so many comments on J_A’s Finale Review and so many votes in the “Rate Episodes 23 & 24” poll.

I wanted to let you know that I hadn’t dropped out the picture. I will be posting my thoughts on the final hours of Series Eight just as soon as I’ve seen them, (i’ve got the last four episodes to watch) and while the urge to simply rush through them is very great, knowing that these are the final 4 hours I’m resisting that temptation and will wait to watch them when I can really savour them.

Looking forward, I also wanted to let people know that we’ll continue to cover 24 whatever form it now takes. Hopefully this will be a Movie in the not too distant future, or it may be that the Movie doesn’t happen straight away and we’ll have to amuse ourselves in the meantime with a look back at the show over the years.

The clock never stops.

The Perfect Scenario – Episode 15 Review

As always it’s been a while since I chimed in, although in the meantime you’ve had J_A filling in nicely keeping you all up to date. Unfortunately due to circumstances i’m fairly behind to schedule and only now starting to catch up. But having just watched episode 15 I noticed that the last review posted was of 13 so I thought it was the perfect moment to post my thoughts on the season and put down a marker to compare against when the season is over. In all likelihood my musings at the end of the season maybe a little clouded. So hopefully these can be slightly more clear headed than those will probably be. Spoilers for episode 15 follow… Continue reading The Perfect Scenario – Episode 15 Review

Mourning In Real Time: Reactions to Cancellation

There have been a diverse range of reactions to the news that the show has been cancelled and will not return four a Ninth Season.

Many of you in the comments are very disappointed, while others are obviously sad that the show is coming to an end (atleast on TV)…

I am mourning 24 in real time.” – Damon Lindelof (Co-creator of Lost)

Others are slightly more philosophical about the cancellation…

I think it’s time myself. I have loved this show for years but even I can tell its time has come.” – Melia (24addict.com)

Breaking News : 24 Cancelled According to Jon Cassar

It’s probably rather fitting that we can pin point to the minute when news broke that 24 was cancelled. Almost exactly 25 minutes ago Jon Cassar (former Executive Producer/Director Seasons 1 – 7) posted the following on his twitter page…

News from the 24 set,the crew has been told that 24 has come to an end. There will b no season 9. Its been a great run, thanx all 4 watching

It seems highly unlikely that Jon would post such news if he wasn’t 100% sure, although it would appear that the crew was only told the news today because Mary Lynn Rajskub (Chloe) posted the following about 8 hours ago…

we haven’t been officially told anything about the fate of 24

Previously Mary Lynn had posted that production had begun on episodes 23 & 24 of the Eighth Season.

There still remains the possibility of a film in the future i’d assume, however a Ninth Season on either Fox or NBC isn’t going to happen.

NBC Offering Ninth Life?

24 may live to see another day after all.

Multiple sources confirm to me exclusively that 20th Century Fox has approached NBC about picking up the series should Fox opt to cancel it — and the Peacock is considering it. “There’s definitely some interest,” says an insider close to the talks.

Just three days ago I posted the news that a ninth season is unlikely for the show. Now it appears a ninth season unlikely… on Fox, but NBC may swoop in and order a ninth season from 20th Century Fox (the studio).

24 never was going to go quietly was it.

Full story here.

Clock Winding Down?

20th Century Fox TV and Fox appear ready to end the long-running hit after this season, the show’s eighth.

Studio and network execs declined comment — but it’s believed that the final decision will be made in the next day or two. Move is not a huge surprise, but still reps the end of an era for Fox.

According to Variety, 24’s end has recently come a step closer, a ninth season is looking increasingly unlikely, but a Movie is still defintely a possibility.
